“The only way to learn mathematics is to do mathematics”—Paul Halmos
Mensuration is a branch of mathematics that studies the area, length, volume, lateral surface area, surface area, etc. of different shapes and figures. We come across many 2d and 3d shapes like square, rectangle, triangle, circle, and 3D shape bricks, ice-cream cones, football, etc. In order to develop a proper understanding of the volume and surface area of the frustum of a cone, a Math activity was conducted for the students of Presidium. This activity helped students to understand the internal part of frustum which is essential to comprehend formulae of the volume and surface area of the frustum of a cone. Students were found engaged and motivated to learn the formulae through this activity. This type of activity helped them a lot to derive the formulas for different solid structures in daily life. Students looked forward to many such activities which impart a conceptual understanding of mathematics.
