Patriotism is a social value, the feeling of patriotism is to be inculcated at school level to make sure that student becomes the responsible citizen of our Nation. To indoctrinate the spirit of patriotism and the values imparted by our Forces among the young children, the students of Presidium celebrated Kargil Vijay Diwas to remember India's war victory and to pay tribute to Kargil Martyrs who are the symbol of courage and sacrifice for safeguarding the borders of the Country. The time essence of Kargil Diwas was significantly seen in the plethora of activities like Drawing, Painting, Poems, Badge Making, etc.

Presidium celebrated the auspicious occasion of Guru Purnima with a lot of reverence. The school conducted a special assembly to mark the occasion with a lot of love and devotion for their Gurus. They paid respect to the teachers with their spectacular performances and sought their blessings. Teachers enlightened the students on the significance of ‘Guru Purnima’ as the school believes in inculcating traditional values in the students.

DEBATE COMPETITION: PRESIDIANS ENTHRALL WITH THEIR ORATORY SKILLS

Debate is one of the academic activities that give students creative room to express what they feel. The length and breadth of knowledge that they gain through this are simply unparalleled. The inter-club debate competition for classes IX and X was held in Presidium. The event was held during the activity period which was conducted online and was graced with the presence of class teachers and other teachers of the respective grades, who welcomed the participants and conveyed best wishes for the competition. The students of class IX and X were the enthusiastic audience to witness this exciting event.  The teams were well prepared and undoubtedly convinced the audience of their beliefs and views. The participants made their arguments more emphatic with their righteous facial expressions and voice modulation.

STUDENTS SHOWCASE THEIR KNOWLEDGE AT QUIZ COMPETITION

General Knowledge is achieved by continuous learning. Competitions are not just motivational and fun, they also enable students to learn and apply their knowledge and understanding to investigate situations, which can aid more learning, memory and stimulate interest. Presidium reaffirms the belief that such competitions boost students’ self-esteem, knowledge, and skills.

To make our students aware of the different aspects of our country and the world around us, a GK Quiz was conducted for the young Presidians. This quiz created curiosity and observational skills about our country and the whole world. This quiz aimed to provide the students with a broad conceptual background about the world around us using analytical thinking skills. The students participated enthusiastically and enjoyed the quiz as well.

SKIT COMPETITION: PRESIDIANS GIVE THEIR AUDIENCE FOOD FOR THOUGHT

The young brigade of Presidium, once again caught the rapt attention of the audience, at the Inter-class Skit Competition. All the students were at their creative best, as there was a limit to the number of properties that could be used by each team. The powerful performances of the budding actors transported the audience to the realm of cinema. The day though was thoroughly entertaining but it was also hugely successful in providing food for thought. The topics for the event were carefully chosen and mirrored the concerns of society at large. It was a novice experience, as the titles of the plays were selected out of some popularly known idioms, around which the students crafted a storyline intelligently and appropriately. Although the event was competitive in nature, the thunderous applause that each one of them received by the gathering was testimony to the fact that each one of them was a winner, as all the plays had conveyed a powerful message.

MANDELA DAY: PRESIDIANS PAY HOMAGE TO THE GREAT LEADER

Nelson Mandela, the inspirational Nobel Peace Prize Laureate, personifies the way in which the human spirit can triumph over hate and evil by embracing peace and reconciliation, in the face of seemingly insurmountable odds. Students of Presidium paid homage to the great leader by celebrating ‘International Nelson Mandela Day.' The participants put up an exuberant show and accentuated that individuals can challenge unjust systems and create fairer societies by exploring Nelson Mandela’s struggle against apartheid. Everyone was enthralled with the captivating performance. They were filled with awe and realized that he was an incredibly selfless man who played a major role in rewriting the history of South Africa. The event ended with thoughtful words by the teachers who motivated the students to become more responsible and further added that the world needs more leaders like Nelson Mandela- sacrificing, dedicated, and focused. We should consider ourselves lucky to have been born in an era in which Mandela existed.

STUDENTS ENHANCE THEIR UNDERSTANDING OF ATOMIC ORBITALS

Science is a logical, systematic understanding of things to enhance our knowledge. There are different branches of science, Chemistry is one, which enhances understanding of physical phenomena on the basis of theories and observations, and experiments. To boost the understanding of the concept of Atomic orbitals, their shape, and significance in Grade XI, an activity was conducted to learn about electronic configuration, the shape of orbitals, period number and group number, and probability density. Topic was to learn about the electronic configuration, shapes of orbitals and to find the period and group number. Students of grade XI enthusiastically participated in the activity and had written the electronic configuration of some of the elements, reduced their period and group number, drew the shapes of the orbitals (s,p,d orbitals), and learned the graph between probability density and radius. It was a wonderful experience for all of them.

STUDENTS MARK WORLD YOUTH SKILL DAY WITH VARIOUS ACTIVITIES

World Youth Skills Day highlights the opportunities and challenges that young people face in employment, and this year Presidium has organized the online panel discussion focusing on skills for resilient Youth in the Era of COVID-19 and beyond. The impact of the COVID-19 crisis on skills development and therefore to explore strategies in response to the unfolding economic crisis. This will help in preparing young people to develop their capacities to respond to rapid changes in employment and entrepreneurship in sectors that are hardest hit by the crisis. Therefore we can say that this in the long term is to adapt skills development systems to changes in the economy of the world that the COVID-19 pandemic and recession will bring. Various other activities were also conducted to mark the occasion.

Keeping this in mind and to explore the creative potential in the young minds of our students and to bring forth hidden talent, creativity and imagination, Presidium organized an intra-class Drawing competition. The fulfilled activity witnessed enthusiastic participation by all the Presidians and the result was amazing artwork which is a showcase of their creative skills and thought on the various topics. This event helped to enhance self-expression as well as developed fine motor skills which included grip control and eye-hand coordination.

STUDENTS ENHANCE THEIR UNDERSTANDING OF THE CONCEPT OF SECULARISM

Art and craft activities have always been a favoured medium to stimulate and develop creativity within students. Poster making and poster presentation are some of the ways of voicing the expression of learning among students. The theme of the poster making was 'Secularism.' Secularity is best understood, not as being anti-religious, but as being 'religiously neutral.' Students of Presidium were introduced to this topic and they were extremely zealous to demonstrate their views on this theme and highlighted the significance of 'Being India a Secular state.' It was an overwhelming activity, where students showcased their understanding of the theme.
