ACTIVITIES THROUGH JODO GYAN MATERIAL MAKES MATHEMATICS FUN!

“Maths gives us every reason to hope that every problem has a solution.” Jodo Gyan, an organization working to find workable solutions to the problems in classroom practices, organized informative and interesting methodologies for students learning. Various pre primary concepts were taught through Jodo Gyan material. Number of activities were done through Ganit Mala, Akar Parivar, Tangram etc. in Primary sections with an objective to emphasize on thinking, generalizing and reasoning. This activity was focused on the concept of After, Before and Between. Teachers placed Ganit Mala in the class and put number cards on it. Participants were asked to observe the number and count the beads to reach the number that comes after or before it. Similarly it was done to find out the numbers in between. They brought real life experiences related to mathematics in teaching strategy which was a wonderful and engaging experience.

PRESIDIANS MARK NELSON MANDELA DAY IN A SPECIAL WAY!

In order to ensure effective implementation of INTERNATIONAL NELSON MANDELA DAY; Presidium Rajnagar had conducted the assembly, in which staff members of the school and students showed effective cooperation and active participation. The assembly began with Gayatri Mantra followed by school prayer song. After prayer one of the students, delivered a short and meaningful speech focusing on the celebration of the day and about Mandela’s idea of an individual power to transform the world, the ability to make an impact. The speech emphasized on the global call of action to promote individual power. A skit was also performed which was interesting and admirable and ended up with a short message of youth and an individual power to bring about changes in the world. Later to arouse the excitement a Quiz competition was also conducted.

BLOW PAINTING ACTIVITY BRINGS PRESIDIANS CLOSER TO ART

Blow painting with straws is simple yet lots of fun for kids of all ages. They use a straw to blow liquid paint around on paper, creating interesting designs. This is one of those simple art activities that children like to do over and over again, enjoy it every time and get a different result every time. We recently organised a blow painting activity for our little students. We put the material for painting such as straws, blank paper and colour on the desks of the children. They put the straw in colour and then blew it on paper. It was so interesting to see the mixing of the colours together. Once the paint dried, this amazing artwork was used for making cards, wrapping paper etc. The students also used this technique to create special effects such as, tree branches, fireworks etc.This kind of activity enhances the artistic skills of the children.

An action word is a verb that expresses physical or mental action. Play, Jump, Eat, Work, Study, Drive, Walk, Write are various examples of the same. Teaching simple action words to children is useful because it lays the groundwork for other important lessons in the future. By the second grade or so, children start working with different parts of speech. We conducted a flash cards activity wherein students were involved in the hands on experience of doing various actions which resulted in quick and long-lasting knowledge of various action words.

REKINDLING THE ‘GURU-SHISHYA’ PARAMPARA AT PRESIDIUM ON GURU PURNIMA

Guru Purnima is the day to felicitate gurus for they are the ones who prepare students to take on
the onerous task of nation building. We are highly obliged to all gurus for shouldering this
tremendous responsibility and so Presidium Raj Nagar observed Guru Purnima to offer tribute to
their preceptors for uncovering the potential and purpose of their lives. A special assembly was dedicated to the teachers, the ‘Gurus’ to mark the event replete with speeches and songs. Speeches and shlokas were read out from the Gita and the puranas which highlighted the importance of the Guru in our lives. Also, the Presidians cherished their teachers’ efforts for their reverence and gratitude for
showing them the right path. Students also performed a musical ballet to showcase the role of gurus in fostering excellence and shaping the minds and characters of the young people in their charge. Truly, it is days like these that serve to keep alive the ‘Guru Shishya Parampara’ in the school!

YOUTH SKILLS DAY: LEARNING TO LEARN FOR LIFE AND WORK!

On July 15 every year, World Youth Skills Day is marked to promote youth skills development and abilities. This year, the theme for World Youth Skills Day 2019 is ‘Learning to learn for life and work’ Keeping the same in mind Presidium Raj Nagar organised a special assembly on World Youth Skills Day in the school premises wherein the young minds opined their perspectives. One of our young Presidians shared her views in the form of a speech imparting the message that engagement of the youth is considered important in achieving sustainable, inclusive and stable societies. The students also represented a skit in front of all stating the message that these days young people often get a lower quality of jobs. We also acquainted students with the information that this year, the UN’s observance of World Youth Skills Day have put light on mechanisms needed to operationalise lifelong learning.

A STRESS BUSTER WORKSHOP FOR PRESIDIANS IN ASSOCIATION WITH NAC

Presidium Raj Nagar recently organised a Stress Buster Workshop for the students of Grades 8 to 10. With examination time approaching fast, National Active Championship (NAC) focused to help children attain an active mind and body, therefore in association with experts in children psychology, behavior and education they conducted NAC Examination Stress Buster sessions for students to deal with Exam Fear and Stress. NAC Stress Buster was an hour interactive session with an objective to acquaint students with fun cool techniques, talks and interactive engagements. The Interactive Session included:• Techniques to concentrate as well as destress while preparing for exam.• Best Practices while preparing for exams like time management and prioritisation of subjects.• Technique to improve focus while reviewing exam questions and responses thus avoiding any anxiety attack.• Tricks to increase concentration span during exams• Importance of Sleeping Pattern, Nutritious & Well Balanced diet. NAC Stress Buster programming included fun learning activities that were easy to adopt and practice Anytime - Anywhere. Along with motivational talk, fun quotient quizzes students were also engaged in activities to enhance their concentration, strengthen memory and improve focus. Presidians were encouraged to continue with these activities while at home -studying, sitting or on the move.

EXTEMPORE COMPETITION: PRESIDIANS GET A MINUTE TO WIN IT!

One has rightly said, “For effective extempore speaking a participant must be fluent, erudite and
articulate.” Presidium Raj Nagar regularly organises various scholastic and co-scholastic activities to cater all round development of its students.To imbue the true spirit of learning and enhance effective communication skills, a Class Wise English Extempore Competition was organised for students of Grade 9 and 10 to enhance their communication skills. The students spoke eloquently on varied topics like education, knowledge, life, beauty, happiness, ICT, entrepreneurship, leadership, culture, freedom, diversity etc. The event was a great learning experience for the students as they expressed their views and opinions spontaneously. They were judged on various criteria like content, body language, fluency, confidence, voice modulation, pronunciation and overall impact. The judges applauded all the participants and congratulated the winners.

The summer break finally comes to an end and it was time for us to welcome our young Presidians to the first day of school. They were full of zest and enthusiasm to have come after a long break. A special welcome assembly was hosted for them which started with a prayer to almighty, followed by news and the thought of the day. After this, students were welcomed on the stage to share their vacation experiences. Many students came and shared their experiences which were very interesting. Ms.Shradha Mam, Head of the School, welcomed the students with a warm speech and encouraged them to begin the new session with optimism and confidence.

Several students displayed their ace skating skills and bagged 1st and 2nd position in various categories. We are so proud of our leading sportspersons in the making for this achievement!
