EXPERIENTIAL LEARNING ON MATHEMATICS KEEPS BOREDOM AT BAY

Learning mathematics can be made easier and enjoyable if a school curriculum includes mathematical activities. Presidium truly believes in making learning as exciting as possible through student-centric activities. We recently organised an activity on mathematics for the students of grade 7. The aim of the activity was to teach the students that - ‘The Sum of Complementary Angles is 90 degree’ in a fun filled manner. It not only enhanced the critical thinking of the students but also improved their logical reasoning. Experiential learning in classroom was at its best throughout the activity which kept the fear and boredom while studying maths at bay!

YOUNG PRESIDIANS CELEBRATE FATHER’S DAY WITH ZEST

‘A Father is someone who holds you when you cry, scolds you when you break the rules, and shines with pride when you succeed.’

With utmost zest and enthusiasm, the budding angels of Presidium Raj Nagar celebrated Father’s Day recently in the school auditorium. The pre-primary students sang Father’s Day songs with heart-warming expressions to reach out to their fathers and make them feel special. With the guidance of their teachers, they also planned various activities like making collages and photo frames for their superhero. They paid a tribute to their fathers with the help of speeches and performances. It was an overwhelming experience for all to witness students taking so much initiative to strengthen their bond with their fathers.

ELOQUENCE DEMONSTRATED DURING SOCIAL SCIENCE ACTIVITY

Everyone has the right to freedom of opinion and expression; this right includes freedom to hold
opinions without interference and to seek, receive and impart information and ideas through any
media and regardless of frontiers. Presidium Raj Nagar recently conducted a social science activity for
students of grade 9 on the theme: ‘A platform for Right to Speak'. A thoughtful role play was presented by the students with a view to provide relevant information, knowledge and skills about this topic. The objective behind the activity was to prepare them to grow up as active, responsible, and reflective members of society.

DECLAMATION COMPETITION ENHANCES ORATORY SKILLS OF PRESIDIANS

Declamation refers to one’s capacity of communicating with others, through exact speech and gestures. To enhance the oratory skills of the students an ‘Inter-Class Declamation Competition’ was conducted in the school premises wherein each student from grade 6 to 8 faced the audience with confidence and delivered his/her speech with correct diction, clarity and voice modulation. Students spoke with charisma and a positive thought which established a connection with the listeners. A healthy competitive spirit enlightened the faces of the students who conveyed their feelings on some of the serious issues that are occurring in the world around us every day.

ICT WORKSHOP UPGRADES 'IT' AWARENESS OF OUR GRADE 8 PRESIDIANS

Information Technology (IT) plays a vital role in the modern business world. Where the entire generation is engulfed in an era of IT, the students of grade 8 at Presidium Raj Nagar got an opportunity and a glimpse of ‘Databases’ in a recently conducted ICT Workshop. The workshop began with the recapitulation of database concepts learnt in the classroom and progressed towards the introduction of queries as a powerful tool to extract information from databases. The students learnt how to view information from the databases created by them in the ICT Lab. The workshop was indeed a perfect blend of experiential learning in the classroom where students learn by doing things and become industry ready.

REKINDLING OUR TEACHERS' PASSION FOR TEACHING WITH FUN WORKSHOPS

A good teacher touches the soul and instills love for learning in students. Presidium believes in not only nurturing the students but training the teachers as well for building an effective education system. Presidium Raj Nagar organised a training for the teachers to motivate and empower them to fulfill the aim of Presidium which is to create ‘Leaders of Tomorrow’. With the help of exhaustive training, inhibitions were shed and teachers got acquainted with tools and techniques for better classroom management. They also got an opportunity for self-introspection which helped them rekindle their passion for teaching.

DRAWING & COLOURING CONTEST SHOWCASES CREATIVITY OF YOUNG MINDS

To explore the creative potentials in the young minds of our students, an interclass drawing and colouring competition was conducted for students of grade 1 to 3. The theme of the competition was ‘magical world under water’. The children showcased their creative skills by drawing & colouring and came up with amazing artwork. It was a colourful day for our young Presidians and the finished products were amazing as they let their imagination run wild and create absolute magic. It was indeed a very successful event and a memorable one too as all our children proudly displayed their creativity.

PRESIDIANS SHOW EXEMPLARY CONFIDENCE AT RECITATION COMPETITION.

Role play for children is essentially learning through play!
 
Keeping the same perspective in mind and to explore the hidden talents of our grade 7 students, a Role Play activity was recently organized at Presidium, Raj Nagar. Students depicted various stories based on the moral of the poem ‘Scratching the Tiger’s Back’, from their curriculum. This poem conveyed the message that every living being is created by God, therefore good and evil, both dwell in them. The excitement of our young actors knew no bounds as they waited eagerly for their turn to perform. Resplendent with their stories and glowing in all their finery, they emulated the personalities and their role models with confidence and passion. This activity enhanced their communication skills and boosted their confidence. Blending learning with fun, the activity proved to be a great experience for the young ones to showcase their potential!

GRADE 3 PRESIDIANS AUGMENT THEIR KNOWLEDGE OF DIVERSE FOOD TYPES

Learning is more effective when it is an active rather than passive process. Keeping in mind, 'let’s sort the food items' activity under the EVS theme 'food' was recently organized for our grade 3 students at Presidium, Raj Nagar. In this the experiential learning activity, the students categorized different mixed food items like rice, dal, wheat, kidney beans, cashew nuts, almonds, peas and cloves, into cereals, pulses, dry fruits, vegetables and spices. Having proper knowledge of everyday food items is essential for the young ones and to inculcate this valuable skill, this fun-filling activity proved to be really helpful!

ROBOTICS ACTIVITY STIMULATES THE BUDDING SCIENTISTS OF PRESIDIUM

What are the advantages of having robots in our lives? Why do robotics play an important part in education? These questions were pondering in the minds of our young and eager Presidians, when the teachers directed a Robotics Activity at Presidium, Raj Nagar. Providing a knowledgeable introduction to robotics, the activity encouraged young Presidians to explore the theme of technology. This activity also created interest in our students for Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics (STEM) subjects that can open the door to career opportunities in the aviation and space realm. The students were sensitized about the robotics curriculum that provides simple, low-cost and feasible activities that can be conducted in the Robotics Lab.
